Thanks..........O.k. this could get a little detailed....I can send pics in the morining when the sun comes out....first off, the power.....There are two wires coming out of each light. One ground , one positive....(obviously....) I took and drilled a 1/8" hole in the light bar behind each light . I riveted the ground wire from each light to this hole. (My truck belonged to a volunteer fire chief, so he had the roof mount c.b. antenna with a hole in the roof. I removed that and ran my wires through a siliconed grommet (made it neater)...I took a 2gauge oxygen free wire and rivited it to the light bar, then ran it through that grommet, and screwed it into an interior recess in the roof. (this grounded all the lights). Now, you have to connect positive power to each light. I went to KC's website and ordered the heavy duty wiring harness. (I got 3) they were like 20.00 ea. This comes with an illuminated rocker and all the wiring to do 2 lights. The switch has 3 posts. One ground, one to power, the other goes to the relay. (The relay takes the load off of the switch, thus preventing blown fuses /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> ) At the relay, you have the one wire coming from the switch, one wire goes to ground, one wire goes to the positive lead you want to run the lights (mine go right to the positive of my second battery) and the last goes to the positive on the light. Sounds complicated, but it really isnt.....I can get pics. like I said and post them tomorrow....If you need any help let me know....Lights and stereo systems are something I am pretty good with...........MikeI bought mine from a guy who had his sitting in his 78 f-150. $100. My wiring is jacket up so cant get them running right. How did you wire your's custom or did you buy a harness, if custom did you run a couple relays and if so could you explain how you did it cause i keep blowing fuses.. Thanks
I like your set up. very nice looking. Great job with the whole truck.
If you dont want to go with KC, you can buy 3 switches from the parts store...It doesn't matter what you get for switches because they wont be holding any power, they are just to turn on the relay. You can get 3- 40 amp relays and some 14 guage wire (enough to run all the wiring) and some female spade crimpable adapters to plug your wires into the switch and the relays...........gearjammer88 said:Thanks..........O.k. this could get a little detailed....I can send pics in the morining when the sun comes out....first off, the power.....There are two wires coming out of each light.
