yet another tailgate window problem!!!!!!

suprise suprise yet another bronco tailgate window problem!! ok so i got a 93 bronco 4x4 5.8L. neither the key or the switch work for my back wndow. i took off back panel hooked my car jumper up to plug directly got it 2 go up and down. so what would be the problem be mabey the switch itself? could us the help.

First check the two fuses that are for the window. One, F12, powers the front switch and F14 powers the rear switch. The front switch only has power when the key is in ACC or RUN. The Other one is hot at all times.

If the fuses are OK, then the next common failure is the safety switch located in the left side latch. Try pushing on that side while turning the tail gate switch. If that doesn't work, try bypassing the switch, you can reach it by removing the access panel, (as you have already done), pull the connector off the switch and install a jumper.

If that doesn't buy you anything, then the problem is probably in the ground return path. the ground returns through the tail gate switch to the front switch and then connects to the Dash ground. Diagram attached.

thanks seabronc im gonna go thru the ground wires tomorrow and if all else fails might try to install my own switch and ditch the other two.

If it is a grounding problem, then it is most likely at a connector, often the one that is on the left side of the rear cross member. I have seen the ground line corroded so bad there it broke off. Try tugging on the wires near the connector.
