i finished welding in the inner pieces of my wristed arm tonight. what size bolt holes should i drill. i have a small delta drill press i hope will do it. also does anyone reinforce the other arm like the first step of the wristed? i have a 79 and its gonna be spinnin 35s will the other arm hold up? why is it that everyone always does the passenger side does it matter which side you install it on? out of curiosity what settings and rods did anyone use to do this. i used an antique lincoln 225 with a craftsman torch from 1969 haha...and about 4 grinding discs so far on a dewalt 41/2" grinder. i used just some lincoln 6011s at 145 amps. i also sandblasted the arm first. i gave $25 for about 13ft of 41/2" x 1/2" plate it was in their scrap pile and wrote it off as farm use! with it being that wide my arm goes up into the c shape contours. it seems like if an arm was to bend it would bend at the skinny part at the back where it mounts is this correct??

I run 3/4" bolts. Yes, the other radius arm should be reinforced. I still haven't done this to mine and haven't had a problem running 38's. When you think about it when trying to drive over a large rock, only one arm is controlling axle wrap so it can bend. I've heard of it happening (not often) but its possibe so best thing is to reinforce it. I've seen guys use 3/16" angle iron and box the arm. You can then use 3/16 plate for the end of the arm at the "C". Lets see some photos. I'll see if I can find my write up.

i decided on 1" pivot and 7/8" pin seems like alot of weight on those things but my drill press is wobbling now.....first time ive used it since we moved i guess they moving guys threw it in the truck or somethin. would reinforcing the other arm by doing the inner pieces of half inch work out ok or would it be better to box it?
