What is the harness that is attached to the right side of the dash panel that's just screwed on to it? It is on right side of steering wheel opposite the rear window switch. The panel is over the gaauges.

I couldn't figure out how to add another vehicle to my profile, anyway it is a 96 xlt 5.0 with manual hubs and manual 4 wheel shift.

The harness I am talking about is on the right side of steering wheel on same dash panel as rear window switch. It is screwed to the panel as the window switch looks like area where there would be a clock.

yo CAPT.

In the diagram I posted above;

45 — Wiring to Shift on the Fly Switch (SOF)

(Part of 14401)

is the 4x4 High/Low Range Shift Buttons as shown in this pic by Steve

cluster-bezel-9296.jpg

Steve labeled it as the "T-Case Switch"

and w/Switch in panel by Steve

instrumentclusterbezel94.jpg

If that is not it, then snap a pic or 3 with wiring colors...
