I found our that there's a leak in my windshield (probably the glass not being installed properly) and need to fix it. My question is does anyone know how to remove the molding around it? I've been told that they pop on and off, can anyone confirm that of tell me how to it it safely?

here is what you can do, this will save you alot of time and money. get a tube or two of either black or clear silicone depending on where you think the leak is, then go over any seams in that area, if you are unsure then go along the entire top and sides.

yeah that's what I had in mind but was wanting to go under the molding so it wasn't noticeable.

They are a PIA to get off and yes they mount with clips that clip onto tiny studs. There is a special tool to remove the trim with. Don't try prying with a screwdriver or you are very likely to chip the glass, once that happens a crack will soon follow. If you do cause a crack, you can stop it by using a diamond grit glass drill bit and drill through the first layer of glass at the end of the crack. Then you can fill the hole with clear coat or get a glass repair kit that has stuff to fill the hole and seal the crack.

Good luck,

:)>-

Nice find Miesk5, should have thought you would have something like that in your references  . I've been wondering how the tool I bought actually should be used, I set it aside till I could find out.

Thanks,

:)>-
