C-6 is the stronger tranny, but the 351m bell housing wont bolt up to the 302

I do not think you have to do anything with the computer, The speed sensor should not be able to tell if you changed the tranny. But I have never seen a c-6 with a changeable bell housing, so that would mean you have to get a small block C-6. Swampthing has just done this swap, so you should get ahold of him if you need any technical questions answered, Your C-6 will bolt up to a 460 though. (hint, hint)

the C6 you have will bolt up to 351m 400m 460 its the big block bell housing no they are not interchangeable bellhousings you need to find one for a small block as yardape stated. my truck is an 88 and had the AOD as well and was not computer controlled they shift off of the servo or whatever it is inside which is controlled by the kickdown cable...you just have to figure out how to wire up the neutral safety switch. it is a simple conversion and the C6 is a much stronger trans. If you use your truck for off-road use often and come across a lot of deep water then you should do a C6 swap asap. AOD's have a water soluable clutch pack and when they get full of water they burn up very fast. if you have any further questions feel free to ask

The easiest way I can explain which is better is this: I was told an AOD is just a C3 with an overdrive, a C6 is stronger but it wouldn't bolt up to your truck. What do you plan on doing with the vehicle?

the c6 is way better than an aod and o think they are lighter if you think about it if it comes on a sports car than it doesnt need to be on a off road machine i have one my self rebulit it and have a shift kit on it and would love to trade it for a c6 any day  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
