excerpt from my ongoing:

new truck - need help

how do i tell if prev owner made a complete lift ?

he says its a 3.5" lift

BC springs

WH 11 pack.

shocks are old and need replacing.

where do i look to see that the body has been lifted ?

i cant find a stack of rubber anywhere...

what after lift mods should i be looking for - cuz i dont think they have been done

and i am worrried that the truck is bucking itself...

thx,

Monza.

Measure from the top of the front axle to the bottom of the frame, then subtract 7 1/2, this will get you close to the actual lift

Did he say body lift or suspension lift? There is a difference. There should be space between the frame and body for a body lift. But it sounds like you have a suspension lift with new coils and rear leaf packs.

My first post was for measuring suspension lift, check the following for body lift, but remember that a body lift raises the body away from the frame and has no effect on shocks, and a suspension lift raises the frame away from the axle, thus needing longer shocks. The stock front bumper should be 1/4" below the body, and the stock rear bumper should be 1" below the tailgate. If you do not have the stock bumpers, then measure from the frame where they mount and add a 1/4"

[seabronc] I'm not sure if that works with FSB, maybe someone on here has a stocker and wouldn't mind giving you the dimensions

this is a great help.

Looks to me like its just a susp lift.

now all i have to do is work out whether any after lift mods were req'd - and if they were done.

i'll post that as another thread.

thx guys,

monza.

heres what i found when i measured;

front axle top to frame underside = 10"

rear axle top to frame underside = 9"

dont know if they should be the same ?

my front coils dont stand straight - there is some bend in them - so maybe its a 3.5" thats sagging an inch or so ?? could this be due to the crap shocks ?

frame mounts to underside body have 3/4" rubber bushings.

they looks pretty old so they may be 1" that have compressed.

- i assume that the body mounts would all come with rubber bushings when stock ?

so i dont know whether this is a 1" body lift or the stock mounts ?

what dya think ?

i need to get new shocks on this and i want to make sure i get the correct sizes for lift.

thx,

Monza.
