Well I have no idea where my head has been.. I have low speed shutter, clunking that's getting worse, and now constant metalic something or another that will vary with speed. I must have been thinking I replaced all the ujoints..when in reality I just replaced the rear due to the double cardan driveshaft. UGH.

Anyway, need one ASAP. Where can I get one for an 89/302 with an AOD?? I found this at checkers auto ($203) but can only have it shipped to my home. Napa is no good, and advanced only has one for a C6 (also needs to be shipped, same price minus $50 e-coupon)

Cardone - Drive Shaft Part Number: 65-9416

Line: A1

Remanufactured

With 3 Speed Automatic Transmission

4 Speed Automatic Transmission Aot Transmission
I don't know if this is compatable with the AOD?

Any ideas?? The shops I called to just replace the u-joints wont even touch the dang thing because I guess they don't have the tools?? And I for sure don't have the know-how on how to replace em myself..been there, tried that.

Bronco-graveyard has em..for $230 plus shipping. But I'm really trying to go local

yo Adam!

Have you tried a local yard yet?

If you need a yard search on-line I use;

ADP Hollander - My Part Shop® used parts finder - their site was messed-up last night, but is A-OK right now

I don't know your location so; I used CT as an example;

Select All Parts.. go thru da drill

then select AT AOD

got a few hit;

Thanks M! I was considering trying the yard..and the prices I picked out were roughly $60-100 as well.. but who knows the condition or how long that will last. Maybe I'll get three years out of it, or three weeks..if on the shorter end, I might as well just buy new, ya know? But that's a nifty site to use though! I'm going to bookmark that shaznat right now lol make yard searchin much easier!

I emailed a couple places last night about replacing the ujoints, and have to call another place on monday (dang weekend) to get an answer if they can replace the joints for cheaper than the cost of a new one.

yo Adam,

Why not replace the U joint yourself and save the $ and aggravation dealing with that "shop".. they could replace the joints quickly & ezily if they knew what they are doing; which appears Not..

I still can't figure out if it's the front or rear DS joints you need done;

so look in my site under DRIVELINE; -> Universal Joint -> Installation, Removal & Repairs

and read thru a few concise and good links such as;

Adam, Check with http://www.automotivepartsunlimited.com/ for a new one. He builds 1350 shafts for about 300 and the stock ones are real good price. the big shaft is great for me and was balanced with very little weight. After you get done buying 4 ujoints and getting the shaft balanced you might as well get a new one.

Here is the contact infomation-

"Automotive Parts Unlimited, LLC

Fullsize bronco's source for gears, drive shafts, axles, and bearings. Call and ask for Eric for discounted FSB prices. 1-800-270-5224"

As you can see he is a vendor on a different site but he will sell to anyone :-& #036; His shipping was fast had the shaft in 3 or 4 days.

I think I may attempt to replace the u-joints myself (with my buddy). Though if I do that, and I fail, I'll need to have a shop do it for me. Ugh.

Toss up on what to do..

Here's the email I got from the local driveshaft shop -

Hello,
I have a double cardan rear driveshaft off my 89 Bronco that needs new u-joints. A few other places I've called won't even touch the thing, and others want to charge a huge price when I could just buy a new one for cheaper..

So my question is, how much would you charge to replace the u-joints?

I work odd hours, and email is for the most part the best way to reach me, but my phone number is:

Thank you,

Colorado Drive Shaft

(4 hours ago)

$75.00 to replace the two u-joints in the cv. If the precision pin is bad between the u-joints then it will be closer to $220.00. We have to cut off parts, replace them and balance it then.

Those photos of the process help Miesk. Though I'm going to try getting a quote from the guy wileec posted about.

I would guess you are going to be into the old shaft close to 130-150 if you do the joints yourself. Should be easy to do, I replaces my rear joint many a time on the side of the road before getting the 1350s.

Well I got a price quote from the driveshaft compnay in lakewood, NJ.

They told me it's about 7-10 days before the product would ship out, so I'm looking at roughly 2 weeks max before I get my fix. And discount price is at $200 plus shipping. I can't wait that long. Plus for at most, an extra $20 I could just have the local driveshaft spot do everything and get it back same day.

I really want to attempt this on my own..but I hate doing u-joints. A lot :angry:
