What is this part that is under my 87. Its loose and able to move some and just not sure where it goes or does, I will crawl back under and route where it goes but I have no clue what it is.

It looks like the remains of the air tube that goes to the cat from the air pump system. If it is, it is bolted to the exhaust manafold near the rear of the engine and shuld have a check valve on the other end. The top end should look like the attached photo if it is the air tube. They rust off at the cat end and need to be replaced in order for the system to function properly. Looks like someone just pinched the end off.

The picture is of a 85 351W, The air pump is on the right (big white thing with hose comming out of the Air Bypass Valve. The check valve is at the little white clamp you see between the hoses under the Air Control Valve (ACV) which directs air to the heads or cat depending on certain engine conditions.

it comes up from where you see in my pic, then goes into a rubber hose and up over the trans, from there I cant see where it goes. Since I have no Cat on my truck for some reason, and maybe it had one and when they put the muffler on they just left it off. I will be taking the truck to a muffler shop to get the ole feller there that is a god on exhaust pipes to work his magic. I actually would get it done just to watch a master at work.
