transsmision leak

I was on the trail with some buddies the other day and my bronco started leaking trans fluid really bad it was slippingbad and got to the point were it would move i had it towed my friend said he thinks it was the rear main seal does anyone know what it may be

i have a 1990 bronco 5.0

The good thing about a tranny is you can see it very easily allowing you to find the leak. Put a couple liters of tranny fluid in it if its empty and crawl underneath and watch for a leak. could be anywhere from the front seal to the dipstick tube, or tranny lines or even the pan gasket itself. For anyone to tell you over the internet where the leak is coming from would take a skill far beyond my own anyway.
