transmission

i might have found a transmission but i need to know if it will work well heres the story it is a 2wd e4od trans out of a e350 that i can get for next to nothing but the thing is can it be turned into a 4wd transmission and if so what do i need to do it

i think it can be done.....what you will have to do is remove the tail section off of the old transmission and transfer case (oviously) and everything should bolt right up......someone correct me if im wrong

I was told that to remove the necesary parts from the tail you have to tear the whole thing apart starting from the front. I was gonna try the same thing for a f-350 4x4 that I had.

You're right by thinking you need to tear it down, you need to use the 4x4 tailhousing and output shaft as well as some clips and other small things.

I thought I was right! I just dont remember who or where I heard it from. I just remember that person said that you have to tear the thing apart and that they are built front to rear.

The tail section can be removed no problem but that alone wont help. The output shaft has to be changed as well, and that has to come out from inside.

so i have to tear it apart in order for it to work and when i got the bronco it had no trans in it so i was going to try and find the parts on ebay or the junk yard

That is correct, you are far better off getting a 4x4 tranny. I would only change all that out if it were rare or I was really stuck.

yes where i live its hard to find one unless i go to chicago and the junk yards there want like 700 for one i found one at a local junk yard and he wanted 500 i think thats kinda high price for a used transmission but that might just be me
