Hi everyone, I'ma newb here.

Have a few questions that I need some help with and I appreciate your responses , advice and opinions in advance :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have an auto. 95 Bronco XLT with 302.

I bought it a few months ago and have noticed that she wont go into low 1. The tranny seems to shift ok, but when I am turning around in my driveway I hear a bit of a click or something from under the truck. It happens when I am in reverse and have wheel turned and backing up/also when I first turn the wheel to go forward and right as I am hitting gas.

I hear nothing during drive time, but just the turning aorund times.

Was told maybe a ujoint, a radius arm bushing, ball joint, etc....

Whats the best way to tell what I got going on besides taking it to the garage? Or should I just take it to a garage since I am no mechanic or one that tinkers a whole lot with autos?

Thanks much!

Have a good 1

Take a look at the links here on Miesk5's Homepage:

Lots of reading, but you might troubleshoot your specific problem. You can look under the Beronco, and see if the column shift is working without the engine running. While you're under there, you can visibly inspect the suspension bushings and driveshafts for any obvious signs of wear. Many times, the radius arm bushings will be gone, cracked and partially gone, or worn enough that they slip out of the original position and leave a wear spot. Look for any broken mounts on the tranny or engine, Check the driveshafts by wiggling them to see if they are really slack, or nice and tight. Look for any missing parts of the u-joints or broken pieces of the end yokes. this visual inspection can be done by a mechanic, but they'll normally charge you up to $100 just to look, and you may have to wait a day or two. Once you find a problem, then you can decide how to go about the repair and if you're up to the task. IF a u-joint is bad, you can unbolt the driveshaft, take it to a driveline shop for the repair, then put it back in. JSM84
