I currently own a 72 Bronco with a 302 and 3 speed on the floor. The transfer case is the "T" handle type. I use this truck as a daily driver and would like to know my options for a swap out to some sort of overdrive transmission. Of course I would like to get this done with out spending a small fortune. Any ideas?

The NV swap is the only 5 speed option out there that has the OD like you want. The NP435 & T-18 are almost the exact same trans and they are "working" transmissions that won't give you any OD capabilities. The other option is to go with the automatic swap. Any way you look at it, you are going to spend money on the trans, adapter & crossmember to do it. Minimum, I would venture to say, you are looking at $1-2k to do the job correctly. Best bet is to budget for $2k and hope for $1500

The NV3550 is the choice that will have you making the fewest changes to drive lines and floor pans.

The other option is a much larger/longer tranny, the ZF from a small block F150/250.
