i believe i have the original 3 speed automatic. there seems to be a leak were the shift linking enters the side of the transmission. is there a gasket for right there. how do i get in there to replace it. i also got a leak at the front of the tranmission were it meets the engine. how should i go about fixing these leaks.

The one at the front is an easy fix, the seal looks the same as the pinion seal on a diff. The linkage one however is new to me. Never heard of that. Sounds like it might be an "O" Ring or something and I'm pretty sure you have to access it from the inside. Could the fluid just be traveling there from the other leak?

i think the previous owner gave me a new oring to put on but i cant remember if it was for that. he gave it to me along with a transmission filter kit and bottom gasket. dont i have to remove the transmission to replace the front gasket. this things pretty much leakin out of everywhere. does manualy shift the automatic say from 3rd to 2nd ruin the tranny. the rpms are still in a safe place when i do that. thanks

there is a seal that goes around the shifter , there is also a o-ring around the kick down lever. the other sounds like a front pump seal leak or converter. if you need the seals e mail me at taylorhlt75@wmconnect I rebuild transmissions so i have a extra seals also a pic if needed
