transmission issues

hey guys, im new to this site and just recently got a bronco with a 351w. and the guy i got it from says the transmission is brand new, but when i put it in drive it will not take off. but when i drop it down into 1st gear it takes right off. does anyone know what might be wrong?

check fluid level, just not enough fluid for the system to function properly.

remember to check the transmission has to be warm, ie 10 to 20 min of driving, in park or neutral, with engine running

Have you checked that the PNR indicator is indicating the correct gear? Being a new transmission it could be that it is not in "D" when the indicator shows it that way. It could also be the linkage adjustment. If I knew what year Bronco this is it would help. Please add your truck vitals to your signature in your profile. On a strait manual linkage there is an adjuster where it connects to the transmission, (a nut connects to the adjuster which has a slot in it).
