:( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> The C4 in my 302 Holly 4 barrel equipped 74 Bronco shifts from 1st to 2nd to 3rd within the first 200 feet or so while pulling away from a stop at normal driving speed. It shifts from first to second within 20-40 feet at 15 to 20 mph. Does anyone have any idea what causes this? I suspect it is a vacuum problem but cannot figure out what to do. Currently I'm running a rubber vacuum hose from the modulator valve to a port on the rear of my intake manifold and have replaced the modulator valve. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

Thanks for quick response! Always a problem since I acquired vehicle 2 years ago but just recently got it road worthy shape. There is no kick down rod on this vehicle. Could that be the problem? I thought it was functional for passing and such?

Did this just start... i.e. is this a new problem..?

How 'bout the kick-down rod....is it there? (carb to dr. side of trannie)

Sounds reasonable to me, I also suspected this could be the problem. I'll install a Lokar downshift cable which I already have and see what happens. I'll post the results. thanks,

try adjusting the modulator valve, where the vac hose goes in there is a ***** that will adjust the shift points (to an extent)turn right for later harder shifts and left for sooner softer shifts, from what i know the kickdown cable only makes it downshift. hope this helps
