i want to swap out my C-6 for something with an Overdrive. Is there anything that would be an easy swap, do i need a new steering colum and all that stuff. Thanx.

The best way to get what you want will be to swap in an AOD. The AOD is a pure mechanical overdrive, it'll give you that 4th gear you're looking for and improve the $hit out of your milage. Now you can ALSO go with an AOD-E or an E4OD but both of those are electro-mechanical tranny's, meaning they get their shift signals from the same *computer* that also coordinates the engine functions. To run an E4OD or an 'AOD-E you need to either run the same engine/tranny/computer combo that the factory intended OR run just the tranny w/whatever engine you want and an aftermarket processor just for the tranny. Fact is that both the AOD-E and E4OD are electronic transmissions and you simply *can't* run either of them without a procesor of SOME kind. The original AOD will run just fine without a processor, you DO need to be careful about setting the throttle pressure so it will shift correctly. The AOD & C6 share a common bellhousing bolt pattern so that one's done for you already. Swapping up from a 3spd to a 4spd will make a bigger difference than you'd suspect. It will make a big difference right off the bat in you milage and that's where you want it. Just remember to stay OUT of overdrive when towing.
