trans questions

heres the deal, i own a 1985 bronco that has a 300 i6. i dont know what tranny i have, i do know its a 4 speed, very low 1st gear and no overdrive (anyone know what it is?). i just bought a 5.0 ** mustang v8 and im swapping it out. does anyone know if the tranny will bolt up and what mods if any need to be made. [-o<

it's probably the t-18. i think the 5.0's will bolt right up, but don't quote me on that. i'd take the 300 over the 302 any day of the week though.

yeah i love that motor too but it has 200k+ on it and it leaks oil, as well as has a really bad knock and vacuum leak. if this tranny doesnt bolt up, ill probly go with a c6. just hope i wont have to move my t-case if the c6 is a different size.

The 300 & 302 share a common bellhousing bolt-pattern so it should bolt up just fine. While you have the 302 out you might want to swap the cam to an RV grind. They're great engines (especially the late model roller engines) but I like them better when setup for torque instead of horsepower. If you *did* go with an auto I'd consider maybe using an AOD instead of a C6. The extra OD gear will make a big difference & since fuel isn't going to be getting any cheaper it might be something to consider. Just a thought.
