I am fighting my track rod bushings and losing. I just put new ones in and it is still sloppy. Seems the hole in the track rod ends may be wollered out. The bolt holes are tight so the movement must be coming from the bushings. What are my options? I am thinking a heim jointed arm. Are the heim jointed arms OK for street duty? Is there a over sized bushing kit? Maybe a sleeve to tighten the hole back up?

Thanks,

Bill

I just finished building a track bar for mine using heim joints. they work great, but if you want to do it make sure you get high grade... I used 3/4 inch joints and re drilled the factory frame mount. the bottom mount should be 3/4. Ill try to get some pictures of it and measurements as well. It took roughly 3 hours to do.

Have you ck'd the track rod mounting bracket ? The frame-side of the track rod bracket is incorporated into the shock-mount. On one of my 78's the upper mounting bolt had loosened. The loose upper bolt was allowing the entire mount to pivot on the lower mounting bolt and the shock hid it. It wasn't until the thing finally sucked the nut straight thru the frame that I found the source of the problem. However with mine it was actually the track rod drop bracket, the stock configuration wouldn't fail in the same way.
