help! it's really hot here so today i attempted to remove my top. first thing i did is break 3 of the little round tabs that go around the interior of the top . i thought they popped out but i guess not. i tried screwing them out but that ain't happening either.

i removed the cover on the headliner that connects the top to the cab and found 3 large 'star type' screws but didn't want to remove them until i found out exactly how to get the whole top removed.

my bronco is a 1994 eddie bauer. if anyone can send me the steps for removing the top, i would greatly appreciate it!

also what tools are required would be nice as well.

i guess removal instructions are in the owners manual but it didn't come with one.

also, if anyone knows where i can get a few of those tabs i broke, please let me know. they would have to be tan in color.

thanks!

I dont know what tabs you are talking about but to get the bolts out you need a "tamper proof t-40 Torx" the top is only 120 pounds but very awkward so have at least one person to help you lift it off and dont forget to disconnect the seat belts and brake light wiring, the wiring is on the driver side and is a fairly big plug. The seatbelts are pretty big torxs dont know exactly what size.

You've already gotten the advice you need on removing the top. Just a little friendly warning here. With your Bronco you can get a ticket if an officer notices that you disconnected the seatbelts or the tail light. I don't know anyone that's gotten one, but it can happen.

The tabs are nearly impossible to take out in one piece and finding them in tan is another goose chase. The best way to take them out is a small, claw foot pry bar and a lot of patience. I had been told that they unscrew and have yet to see one do it. My friend who works for a large Ford dealer is trying to find some in tan for me as almost all of mine broke. He figures we will have to get another color and use interior paint on them. He said you can't tell the difference between the originals and the painted ones but I guess we'll see.
