88 full size bronco-rebulit motor-fuel injected, ran fine before the motor swap

I used all the bolton parts from the old motor and it doesn't run right.

I have an intake and carb from an older ford I just had rebuilt but I want to keep the auto overdrive. is this possible

Hello what motors did you swap were they the same ? did you use the harness that came off your motor or did you use the one on the swapped motor ? Need more info . Yes you can keep the overdrive but to keep an E4OD with a carb it cost $400 for the controller and to keep an AOD with a carb you HAVE to have the cable that runs to the tranny from the throttle linkage adjusted correctly or the tranny will die . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> When I swaped out the 89 302 in my bronco for a 91 351 there were 4 wires that had to be moved to make it work . Does you oil pressure and temp guage work ? Let me know . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

temp guage dont work I changed the ect sensor, tstat, water pump, and will put after market temp guage this weekend.

my whole problem is at idle the motor lobes really bad and when you put it in gear it stalls

So you have the same wiring harness on the motor that was in it ? Did you change the cam ? ( some of the 5.0 roller blocks have the 351w firing order and it will run if timed like that just not good ) As long as you have the 88 motor harness with the 88 cab harness that should be fine . Check the EGR to make sure it isnt stuck open a little bit that will make it run really rough at an idle . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

AHHHH yes I forgot about that experience . Most of the new IAC motors you get have a diode in them so if you put a new one on and you start the truck and it immediately dies then the IAC is not letting any air by for idle . You then need to swap the 2 wires that go to it around in the plug and it will work just fine had that happen when I swapped a used one from a 96 onto my 89 wouldnt work at all and I knew that it had just functioned on the 96 . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

first of all thanks for the help.

it starts fine and runs fine accept at idle(if i pedal it a little it wont stall).

the mech. told me its a torquer cam-but its stock specs-I have the

diag. computer, the codes i pulled are- egr-ect-one i dont recall right now-

air pump (witch is eliminated)-power steering sens, so i replaced the egr

and the ect so far. ? to clear the computer memory I have been told to disconnect the pos. terminal and turn the lights someone else told me

after i disconnect the pos. terminal to ground it to the body?

I dont want to hurt anything.

then to reset it I should start the truck put it in gear and let it run w/ the e brake on or should it be driven?

If you just unhook the battery for a few min it will clear the memory . The IAC controld the amount of air the motor gets for idle when you step on the pedal your opening the throttle butterfly and bypasiing the IAC it may just need to be cleaned . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
