I have a '87 4x4 four speed TOD that went out with a bad whine then locked up temp, had to limp home in 1st...barely.
Is it recommended to replace or rebuild? Parts kit available?

Thought "TOD" meant top shift overdrive? Anyway it's a
RF-E5TR-7006-AA
C-2605524 (casting #?)
Wouldn't that be the T170FT-RTS?

Most replacements are rebuilt transmissions. I would take yours toa trusted shop and have it rebuilt. Talk to them about upgrades that will help keep the trans running good and make it a bit stronger then before.
