Temp gauge

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and I think I messed up already by posting this in the Tech Support section. I believe it is more suited for this section.

I just recently bought a 1988 Bronco ll and I'm very happy with it. I did notice one problem though. My temp gauge seems to run about middle ways for about 10 miles or so then all of a sudden it goes all the way up like it is overheating. The first couple of times it did this I pulled over and turned it off only to find out that it was never overheating. I did, however, replace the thermostat just in case but it still does the same thing. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Zone. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Try replacing the temperture sender on the intake manafold. It is probably defective. Do not use teflon tape on it as the sender needs a good connection thru it's threads to ground. Make it nice and snug and then check for leaking around the threads with the engine running. The other possibility is the connections to the gague.

Make sure you replace the right one theres 2 one for the computer and one for the guage . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The same thing happened to my 79 Bronco. I disconnected it though and haven't got around to fixing anything yet.

I PUT SOME WD40 ON MY SENDING UNIT WHEN IT WAS DOING THAT AND IT WORKED MY FRIENDS DAD SUGESTED AND I TRYED IT AND IT WORKED WORTH A TRY BEFORE YOU BUY A NEW SENDING UNIT
