When changing the power window motor in the tailgate, do i have to remove the regulator as well, or can i just swap out the motor?

Been searching the forums and most write ups include removing the regulator+motor as a whole.

It can be done with the regulator in the tailgate, but you have to be some what of a contortionist and using a wrench in that confined space is a PITA. To get the regulator out you need to remove the window and then unbolt the regulator. Window removal requires removing the weather stripping, being careful not to bend it or just get new stripping since it is probably ready to be replaced anyway. Also you need to remove the end seals on either side of the gate. Then remove the four nuts that hold the window to the regulator arms. Once you have done this it is about a 1 hour job.

Good luck,

:)>-
