my window motor is not broken because i am able to connect to wires and an 18v battery to it to operate the window but i no longer have the patience and it would really help if i could figure out the problem. i checked the wires going into the tailgate and they seem to be fine and they have currents and they respond to the defrost and back window buttons on the dash, if its not the dash button the motor or the wires going into the tilgate, what is it?

The problem is likely the safety switch in the tailgate, located behind the key switch in the tailate. Make double sure the tailgate is fully closed, with proper force if needed. If your latches or striker bushings are worn out, the tailgate will not fully close, and the window will not work. It's designed to prevent the glass from going up when the tailgate is open. Lastly, check the gear inside the motor to be sure it's not stripped out. The motor will run, but the glass will not move. JSM84

It's possible to "Fool" the safety switch with the tailgate open/down by manually closing the latches on both sides. IF the window works, then it's the safety switch for sure. When DOES the window go up with a jumper hooked to the motor? With the tailgate closed? You sometimes have to slam the tailgate shut fairly hard, but without breaking the fragile glass. Usually, a firm push with your body weight will work. When closed, check for any play in the tailgate. IF it moves in and out, the latches may not be fully engaged.

Make sure the handle is all the way in, hold it in place if you have to and get someone else to push the button. My switch doesnt work everytime, sometimes you have to rock the switch quite a few times before it will work. Open the tailgate and trace the wires into the rear quarter of your Bronco, Locate the plug, Unplug it, Get a test light and see if you have power when the button is pushed. If you do then you know the problem is in the tailgate. Bypass the box inside the tailgate and run the wires straight to the motor, This is how mine is hooked up, works fine only cant use the key to open the window.
