As you may be able to tell, my tailgate window lift motor went out on my '95. All was well and good, got the part, removed the old, tested the new. Everything worked great except that it just would not fit onto the mount! Finally realized that on the Ford Factory part, the far thread casing has a lip on it so it rests on the support beam found just left of the motor, while on aftermarket parts the casing goes all the way down and is flush with the back of the motor. That's the best way that I can describe it. I've been to Napa, Autozone, Advance, PepBoys, and no one has an aftermarket that fits. Even got a reconditioned Ford part and, of course, even though it fit it wouldn't actually work when I wired it up.
If anyone knows an aftermarket that will work, that would be just wonderful. I'd hate to actually go to Ford, spend upwards of ten grand on the thing and then fight with them over whether or not I am capable of putting the part in myself.
