Another goat-sucking tailgate problem. My 95' has the tailgate glass stuck down. I am trying to access the safety switch on the drivers side latch, but it too is blcoked by the glass. I am not getting power to the motor, from the dash switch or the key switch. I have a replacement tailgate (complete) in great shape and would just like to get the tailgate glass up until I can get the other one painted. Any ideas?????????????????

Unhook the motor and just shove the window up by hand. It shouldn't take you more than 5-10 minutes.

You can try removing the access panel and hot wiring the motor with a pair of jumpers. If it doesn't move reverse the leads. Do you hear anything when you press the up switch, like the motor running but the window not moving? If so, the drive gear is bad. If you hear nothing, then you either have a broken wire, bad connection, or the tailgate safety switch that is not making. The connector on the rear driver side cross member could be corroded. The area where the wire harness goes from the rear quarter panel to the door is also a common place for a broken wire.

Good luck,

:)>-
