Okay...heres the problem....Ive spent all day fixing this thing....I bypassed the safety latch and it started working...then I went to discount auto to get a light bulb for the high bulb in the rear and rolled down the back window...installed it and now the damn thing wont go up....so, i unplugged the connector to the motor and hooked up some jumpers to the battery and it sparks now...i checked continuity with my multimeter and it shorting out.....now is the motor supposed to be shorting out?? or is the motor now blown?? also if it is blown how do I get the window up for tonite??

To get the window up you may have to disconnect the motor from the linkage then pull/push up on the window from the inside.. ( I used a piece of wood to prop it up as it will fall down on it's own). As to the rest I can't help you with. If it's the original motor then it's probably wore out anyway.

Check the motor leads for a rub through. If they are not placed in the proper position so they clear the mechanism and the window as it operates, you may have made a hole in the wire insulation.

To answer tour question about the motor, NO the motor should not be shorted, I'm not sure of the resistance but you should at least be able to get a resistance reading.

Good luck,

:)>-
