tailgate cable help

i need a tailgate cable for an 86 fullsize bronco. i have ranch hands on the truck and its scratching and denting the crap out of my tailgate.

and if anyone has ever driven an 86 bronco, did you ever notice a little bit of "play" in the steering wheel? if you did, did you ever fix it? how did you do this?

I'm a bit confused.. you need a tailgate cable? ...autopart stores will have em (might have to order em) and they are about $15 a pair..

Confused on the ranch hands thing tho......

The play in the steering wheel..I've heard it's common, and no matter what you do, it always comes back.\

Take a look over at Bronco Graveyard for the tg part. There is an adjustment ***** on the top of the steering gear box that you can tighten in 1/4-turn increments to reduce play in the gear box, but it may cause more wear on the internal parts. Check the steering shaft and rag joint for play, as well as the rest of the steering linkage like the drag link and tierod ends, JSM84
