I recently bought this bronco, and I'm loving it! It did not come with a stock tire rack, but I found one! But don't know if it will support the weight of my 35"! I'm worried about bolting it up! So does anyone know if it will hold?! If not does anyone of any websites to get an idea of how to make one?! I would appreciate any help or information! Thanks! I have a picture of my bronco in my profile if you want to see it!

it is my understanding that where the outside tire carriers attach to the quarter panel are reinforced steel. if your truck did not come with an outside carrier, then it may not have the reinforced steel to hold it. here is the diagram.

You could get away w/a 35 on it if it has that reinforcmt. in it.

For custom carriers; se my site @ http://www.broncolinks.com/index.php?index=753

Hello once agian! Thanks for the congrats! Honestly I love this truck, it's fun, it's a head turner! I am thinking about fabbing up my own tire carrier! It originally had a swing away tire rack, it has the holes and nuts where you bolt it up. I'll check if there is a back up plate, the previous owner said he took it off becuase it bothered his view when looking back. I don't want to carry it inside cause I want that area to sleep in when I go camping! Thanks once agian for all your help! I am up in te air about making my own bumper and swing away rack!

congrats on the bronc, I remember in my 81 that if I took the rear seat out, I could fit a queen sized air mattress in there. thats the only thing my finance liked about it.

yw P!

Since it does have holes in 1/4 panel, etc for the rack, you're prob a ok

A yard rack is prob the way to go since a diy steel fab would cost a few $ bec of the price of steel, unless the scrap yards have what you need.

I took my spare tire rack off, and with just a factory spare, the tail gate and quater panel started to cave in over the years. I've heard anything larger than a 33 will rip the supports because of the weight, but I don't know of anyone that has actually happened to.

if my bronco came with the external tire carrier, (therefore with reinforcements at the quarter panel), could i install a tailgate from a donor B-Co that didnt come with the tire carrier. is there suppose to be reinforcement in the tailgate also??
