I just traded one of my mustangs for a clean 66 bronco . I currently have a 74 bronco that would pretty much need every panel replaced due to rust . I would like to use the 66 on my 74 frame with all my drivetrain . Is there anything I should expect or look for when doing the swap . The only replacment parts the 66 needs is the front floor pans. Also does it matter if I have a 66 body on a 74 frame . Where else is the vin on broncos other than the glovebox . Thanks Robert

The '66 will have it (vin) on the left kick panel...left side of the emergency brake. Some say threre's a vin# on the frame of later models....however, I've never found one.

Doors & tailgate have some diff.

Windshield drops on '66 ....dash is a bit diff. Air vent inlets are diff.

Grill-turn sig. & side-marker lights, & tail-lights (no back-up lights '66)

So if I use the whole 66 body on my 74 frame what should I regester it as a 66 or a 74 ? Also what is the deference in the rear gas tanks ? I looked in my catalog and it calls for a different tank for a 66 and 74 and my 74 has two tanks and the 66 one . I just bought a new rear tank for my 74 and dont really want to buy another one . Thanks Robert

The rear tank will fit, don't worry about that. The difference is just the capacity that they hold. If memory serves me correctly, the stock older EB tanks hold more than the newer ones did. If you bought an aftermarket deal from BC or Wildhorses, it will work fine.

On later models (like my 73) the VIN is stamped on top of the frame underneath the passenger floor pan. I only know this because I just replaced my pans.

When you remove the tub make sure you weld supports between striker and post, even more so if the floors are gone. These trucks are easy to twist when you remove the tub and your body panel lines will be all #$@%% up if your not carefull. so take time and brace everything so the rockers dont twist or sag. Then mock up all the panels before you tighten the body mounts all the way(on the new frame). When the tubs in its proper place crank down the body mounts. This will save you a lot of time lineing up panels after paint. Good luck
