Am a big Ford guy but as 4x4's go I am a recent convert from Toyotas. I have an '88 Bronco II, 4x4, manual, 2.9 V6. I recently moved into a new house and am on a strict budget with this build. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade so I am pretty capable when it comes to wrench turning. What I am curious about is the possibility of a spring and shock swap from a larger F-Series or more specifically, a Superduty. I know you can do an Explorer swap but I'm looking for something a bit more radical on a short budget and as such I'm not too fond of the pricing for regular aftermarket lifts. I also will be swapping out the 2.9 for a 5.0 out of an '88 Thunderbird so front end weight and spring rates shouldn't be a huge issue. Any advice would be GREAT. Also just out of curiosity... Anyone know anything about having a soft top fitted if I felt inclined to chop the back half of my roof off? Thanks guys.
