i have a 78 bronco that i put 72 f250 running gear under, and an 85 f150, both need new rear leaf springs and i recently picked up two sets of 85 f250 diesel rear springs and i was wondering if will they swap straight across to the stock 78 bronco leaf hangers? or the stock 85 f150 leaf hangers? or will i have to do alot of fabbing? thanks guys :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

yo Blue!

Look @ this;

Comparison Tables by eatonsprings.com

And read their, "How to Measure" so you can see what the dimensions mean

It shows all 80-97 F 250 rear leafs as ((A / B) 25 x 31 3/8 & 3" width w/the spring capacities, pack thickness, etc.

80-97 F 150 dimensions and w are same!

but,

78-79 Ford Bronco Rear Springs are 24 X 31 1/2 w/ 3" W

Even has spring pics/depictions!

Eaton has a similar measurement article @ http://www.eatonsprings.com/measuring.htm

Excerpt is;

"...The WRONG way to measure is eye to eye. While this may seem to be the easiest, it is not accurate.

The measurement you get is only good as long as the spring stays at that arch.

As a spring flexes up and down, the distance between the eyes changes.

A 48 Inch (measured the correct way) with a 6 Inch arch will measure 46-3/4 Inches eye to eye.

The same spring with a 3 Inch arch will have an eye to eye measurement of 47-3/4 Inches.

So the ONLY way to measure the length of a spring is as though the spring was flat.

Follow the curve of the spring measuring from the center of the front eye back to the center bolt (A).

Then measure from the center of the other eye back to the center bolt ( B) ."

GL!

i would do a little online research in regards to spring hangers. when replacing hangers on my 95, i found that the hanger to the rear of the axle was the same as the f-150, while the hanger forward of the axle was specific to the bronco. it could have worked, but would have required the drilling of new bolt holes on the frame, which would have required some calculations i did not feel confident making to ensure the spring bolt eyelet ended up in the same place.
