I have some seriously stripped starter bolt threads. I Dont think they can be repaired with helicoils or by tapping new threads. My question is what is the part name that the starter bolts to. This is in a 1996 bronco with the 302 5.0 in it. Is it the bellhousing? If so where do you buy one. thanks for any help

I suggest you, or someone that knows how retap the bellhousing, or find a heli-coil kit or something. the bell is actually the casing for the transmission, so unless you want to spend a ton of money, it's definately worth a try.

**** before i replaced the bellhousing/tranny i would drill the hole through , grind a section of the bellhousing where the hole comes through grind it flat so a nut will sit on it. now use a long grade 8 bolt washer and nut. Ofcourse try the heli coil first that always the best option esp when threading into allum

You could try jb weld, plug the holes solid then redrill and retap and hope for the best. You could get someone to aluminum weld the holes shut and redrill and retap. or helicoil. They make various sizes.

all you have to do it tap it and use larger threaded bolts, then it doesn't matter how much you stripped it
