I tried to remove the starter from my 90' 302 and the top bolt has a stripped head. Now what? How do i get it out! :((

Vice grips and the blue wrench. Find something that fits over the small end of the grips if you need more leverage.

You can try grinding the bolt head off, if you can get a small hand-held grinder up to the starter bolt. If you have a welder or access to one, weld a good nut on top of the stripped head, then loosen. The current from welding will loosen any rust, too. Just be sure to disconnect your battery first!! Go to SEARS. they have a set of tools that you can grab onto the bolt with. They look like a socket but the inside has a spiral cut that screws itself onto the bolt and grabs it. It is sort of like an easy out except it goes over the bolt head.

Good luck,

:)>-

Sears, you don't have to ask me twice. I planned to hit it with the torch, but the socket would work.

The bolt is still in there, the socket didn't help and I can't use a torch down there. I'm gonna try to break the base of the starter at the mount, its white metal so a chisel should get throught it. Any other ideas are welcome.

Dude, its the top bolt, my hand barely fits up there, vice grips won't.
