Hey folks, first time poster here $-) Been lurkin for a while and finally decided to post.

Gotta question for you guru's.....can anyone tell me the distance between the frame and the top of axel on a stock bronco?? Finally got me a 79 after about 25yrs of wantin one. It came with a 3" body and a suspension lift. I'm trying to figure out how much lift the suspension has on it. Purty sure it's a 4", but would like to know for sure.

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks for the reply. Here's some pics. I know it's a 3" body lift on it, just not sure on the suspension. Those are 33\12.50's on it.

I'd like to get rid of the body lift and go with just the suspension lift. I'm wanting to run 38's on it, so I'm figuring at least 6", really don't want to go anymore than that, so might have to leave the body lift on..

Just by looking at the pics, I would say no more than 4" lift just because the pitman looks stock. I think if it had more lift, there should be a dropped arm to help with steering. Cant tell about the R/A brackets. Is that a charger behind the bronco?

Well, come to find out it was a 4" lift. Got the 6" on now, with 38.5 TSL\SX's.

Looks like I'm gonna have to keep the body lift tho.

Now just have to replace the fenders and get it painted.

This is what I've done to the interior of it so far. I've haven't done anything like this before, so not sure if it looks good or not. But compared to what it looked like before( no carpet, no anything!! ), I think it looks purty good. Still have to get the seats recovered to match the rest of it.

Finally got it painted. Just have to get it buffed out and everything put back on it

Looks great, what gears are you running to handle the 38's? I tried to run a set on my '78 f150, but with a 6 cylinder 1st and 2nd gear was ok, but 3rd and 4th couldn't do it. I had stock gears probably 3.50 or so.

Stock 3.54's far as I know. I can't find a tag on them anywhere.

It seems to handle them pretty good, but all it's seen sofar is the hiway,lol.

Might be a diffrent story in mud.

I would like to drop some 4.10's in it, but it'll prolly be awhile before it happens tho.

Paint scheme looks good, probably will look even better when you install the race track trim and front end.

Thanks, yup it did make it look alot better after I put the front end back on it. Got all the trim back on the drvers side, about half way on passenger side. The trim is purty beat up, and I want to replace it all with new, but that stuff is expensive!!! I'll have to replace it a piece or two at time, it'll take me awhile, but I'll get all one of these days,lol

I'm on vacation this week, so hopin to have it all back together in the next few days...........................that is if the wife will leave me alone long enough,LOL.

Yes, that trim is expensive. I priced it for my '79 but I think I can buff or polish the bigger pieces.

The upper on mine isn't that bad.................it doesn't shine like i want, but it's not beat up. I have tried polishing it, it helped some....

The lower is another story tho.

When I do start replacing it, I'll start with the lower and work my way up.

I'm guessing that's your Bronco in your avatar??? Damn nice lookin!!!

Ok, new pics.......I'll say I'm about 90% done with this phase...Still have to put the cowl badges back on, but thinkin of gettin new ones. Mine look purty bad. Still have to get the back bumper on also.

I don't like the way the front bumper sits with the body lift, but really don't know what to do about it other than cut the ends of the frame and reweld them 3in. higher. Didn't really want to do that, anybody have any other idea's??
