I recently bought a 86 bronco w/ a new 302 and a bunch of other new parts. The only problem it really has is there is a signifigant amount of slop in the steering.

I jacked it up getting ready to adjust the stering gear since thats what it felt like ( similar steering setup in 85 rx7, which is what Im used to) Anyways I discovered that my problem was in the steering intermediate shaft and more specifically the steering shaft rag washer. I found a place on line that sells them but mine doesnt look replaceable?? Do I need to take it to a shop that can do u joints to install the part or should I just check a junk yard for the whole shaft?

=thanks --Erik

try both, see which one is cheaper or higher quality. With a shop, they take the liability if something goes wrong.

... I didnt catch that until I looked again. I still thinks the rag washer's my problem since I cant feel any slop in the steering gear at all, so I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks!
