i can turn my steering wheel 3-4 inches before my front tires start to turn. one place told me that my steering column is bad, but another place said that my steering coupler is shot. i talked to a guy at advance auto parts and he said that it sounds like the coupler is shot. i know that my axle pivot bushings are bad and that my radius arm bushings are bad, but that's another issue. thanks for any and all info.

for starters replace all those bushings....those can cause some sloppy steering and they wont cost too much- the ttb wont stay in alignment 5 minutes with toasted bushings. also check the rag joint on the steering shaft and maybe try a borgenson steering replacement joint (around $65). you should definately check the steering links for looseness just a little play in each of them will give you a super loose feel. after checking/replacing all these things check the steering box and make sure its bolted down tight on the frame. you can adjust it on the top. do tiny increments like 1/8 turn and drive around the neighborhood to see if it helps. dont adjust too much becuase too much preload will wear the box quickly and it will lose its return to center. the steering box is much more expensive to replace so do it last after everything else it tight if you feel its still not as tight as it should be.

HELLO, my broncos steering has gotten worse it still is loose when driving unless i go over 60 then it is terrible and probably not safe. ANYTHING i can do that is simple and cheap to fix that? Also when i turn it to sharp right or to sharp left the truck will turn off. U-Turns, cant do them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
