No one can seem to figure this out? I have an '86 Bronco 4x4 with a 351m. When I start the truck (cranking) there's an obnoxsious squeeling, whining, high pitch sound that what seems like to me is coming from the starter? I got the starter tested and it passed. Just not load tested. The teeth on both the starter and fly wheel look fine. What is this? The starter is new by the way? Oh and mind u that it does run and not make that noise. Could it be a bad starter under load? I don't wanna just buy a new one and have it not be it? It sounds like a dying animal when I start it! Any good suggestions or prior experiance?

Thanks

-Nate

Hey thanks for the reply. It helps but I checked both starter and flywheel teeth already but looks normal. I was thinking it's an internal issue with the starter? Bendex, solenoid or something? It makes no noise during normal operation, can't be a bent flywheel?
