Sputtering Engine

[83Bronco]

In my 83 Bronco which is carberated, the engine begins to sputter around 20mph. Can any one tell me whats wrong and how to go about fixing it? This truck also doesnt start unless i hold the choke plate closed. thanks!

I was using the choke incorrectly it turns out. Heck im only 17, ive never used a choke before! lol. Thanks though
