I have a 82 Bronco,Some days my speedometer is responding like it should and others it

for the time being take the speedometer cable off the dash end, and try to spray some wd-40 into the casing of the cable. whats causing the fluctuation is friction between the cable and the casing around probably due to corrosion. when the cable or casing are cooler the cable won't rub as much but if it warms up and expands the slightest bit then it would rub more.

try that and if that doesn't work get a new cable
