Chet,

I have been away, but will certainly check back in this weekend. IF you are still with us, let us know with some kind of a reply.

IF you have no spark, starter fluid will not help. SO we need to track down why you have no spark. This can be a complicated issue.

Hi Chet,

You indicated that you have a high idle and no spark. That can not be the case.

So let's go with no spark, and therefore will not start.

When you check for spark, you can do so at the plug, and from the coil to the cap.

I'll assume that you have no spark in either place.

Make sure you have 12 volts at the bat side (+) side of the coil with the ignition key on.

Also check the coil itself.

Primary resistance should be 0.8 - 1.6 ohms

Secondary should be 7.7K to 10.5K ohms

The primary resistance is measureed between the two small terminals.

The secondary is measured between the Large terminal (that connects to the coil wire to the cap) and the (-) negative (tach).

If the coil is out of specs, replace it.

You may also pull your ignition control module and have it checekd at an auto parts store.

Let us know how you make out, we'll go from there.

What year truck do you have? Add your truck vitals to your signature file, it helps get better answers.

Good luck,

:)>-

This one is good for 80 - 86 Duraspark II systems

How much pressure? What does the spark look like, what color is it? How far will the arc jump? Have you tried removing the SPOUT jumper? That removes the computer control from the equation. Getting any codes?

Good luck,

:)>-

Keep your posts on the same topic in the original thread. I am going to merge them.

I was just reviewing your posts. I noticed that you have posted about putting a performance chip in. Have you tried putting back the original chip?

DO NOT open a new topic on one you previously have opened. Did you put the original chip back in that you replaced with a performance chip? As far as pressure at the rail, what was the pressure reading?

I am going to merge this post with your other posts on this topic.

Chet,

Please read the questions put to you and do your best to answer them.

When you make a statement such as... I got spark, please discribe for us, HOW you came to that determination.

Seabronc mentioned pulling codes, and pulling the SPOUT, you made no comment about those suggestions. If you don't know what he meant, then please ask for clairification, we are here and willing to help.

Please read your post, after you write it, and before you post it, to see if you think it would make sense to someone else, or if there is a way that you can make it more clear.
