spare tire carrier

hey i just got an old tire carrier from a junkyard and i was wondering, do i just need a real long bolt to attach the tire to the carrier or what.

Here is the parts catalog page that illistrates the whole setup. You will probably have to make the bolt, it is J shaped. There is a part number right under the bolt, with luck you might be able to get one from Ford, but don't hoild your breath .

Good for you...**** I'm having a hard enough time just finding a complete external spare tire carrier. My '88 came with one just not when I bought it.
