I do have a edelbrock book. I read the whole book and experimented alot. I got the carborator tune to where it should be right now. The timing is right. I re-routed the gas line to where it won't be in the heat and those three things made it better, but I thought hotter plugs would make a little difference. When the engine is cold it has a snap, however when it warms up it is sluggish (like it is too rich). What are your thoughts?

You know, a real funny thing about every Ford engine I have ever dealt with is that the hotter the plug I ran, the crapper the engine ran. I switched back to .99 cent Autolites when I was carb'd and it ran 100% better than it did with Champion or Bosch platinums or even the split fires. Even now with EFI I run the cheapies and it runs better than w/the higher end ones.
