So the last few days I see puffs of smoke comming from the driver side wheel. Really annoying and makes my truck look like crap (I think)..especially sitting in traffic.

So anywho, I was fartting around, and noticed where it was comming from - Crank case breather hose. I used to have the hose connected to my airbox per fords design. Then added a catch can before the airbox - works great for city driving - sucks when doing the long road trips. Oil made it's way past the catch can into the airbox.. needless to say, after a 1200 mile trip, my inner fender wall is soaked in oil.

So I removed the catch can, and just ran my hose down to the frame to be "dumped" downward to the ground. Now I have smoke puffs comming out of this hose, and very little oil comming out (hose actually drops onto the frame rail so I can notice how much oil is comming out).

Any ideas? I'd hate to have puffs of smoke rolling out of my truck with a hint of oil smell..but I'd also hate to have all that oil blow-by sucked back into the motor, casing the inners with crap <_<

the point of the hose from the valve cover is to draw those vapours back inot teh engine so they can be burnt off without just "dumping" it in to the environment. if its getting bad enough that you can see smoke outside of your bronco from it, then you need to replace your piston rings.

New PVC valve..well only a few months old. Replaced this summer. Added in an oil catch can in-line off the PVC. Catches a bit of oil.

I assume the rings are bad, by the amount of blow-by. I could have it routed up the way factory wants it (into intake) but that'll **** oil through clogging my air filter with black gold, and coating my inner fender with black gold.

New motor soon to come in the next few months. Maybe I'll just **** it up and deal with it..
