My question is this I installed a 6" Skyjacker lift with extended radius arms. But the front suspension is a lot stifer than it should be is there any thing i can do to soften the front suspension. Like removeing the sway bar changeing to different shocks. The ride on road is fairly good but when u hit a *** hole etc its like you are riding on the bump stops. this is the first ford Ive built mainly worked with jeeps is this just a common trait of the truck or is it the kit

it's mainly a trait of ford trucks to have a rough-and-tough suspension in the front, so I wouldn't be too conserned

as far as the swaybar goes, that is a last resort reserved for those vehicles not to be driven on the street, as this could cause a roll-over on any vehicle, even at speeds under 40. the shocks may be replaced with some generic, lifetime warranty shocks from your local auto-zone, but the most effective modification would be to either buy a softer set of springs, or have yours softened (not very reliable or safe for springs) personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about the stiffness, as a ford is made to TEAR THE **** OUT OF ANYTHING!, besides, it's safer to have it as the center of gravity is raised, thus more prone to flippin' :)>-

I also have the Skyjacker Class II 6" lift kit. The Hydro shock are stiffer/firmer than your normal shock. I would suggest removeing BOTH the front and rear anti-sway bars, if you want more flex when offroading and do not tow anything. (I really wouldn't tow anything with the Bronco lifted 6" anyway). That won't have much effect on the "stiffness" of the ride, though. Another thing you can do to soften the ride is lower your tire pressure to 30psi for road use. IF you want to lower that even more for offroad, it will help your traction but don't go so low that you pop a bead off of the rim. 12-14 psi is as low as I've gone with the 35" Mud Kings in sand.

The other thing I would say about the SkyJ kit is to give it a couple of months to break in the new springs and shocks. Once they settle in, you'll be able to experiment with the tire pressure with more results. JMS84

A good idea to do is buy a 70/30 style shock. 30% compression so its hardly using the shock when hitting a bump (uses springs). 70% on rebound so it controls the suspension bounce, allows the suspension to return slowly. Rancho 9000's I believe are this way. Or you can buy the adjust type and get it where you like. This type of shock (single per corner) will help reduce the stiffness. The shocks you have on there now are probably a 50/50% in both directions right? This is what causes a stiff ride. The shock doesn't want to move much.

Did you have to get lengthened brake lines and/or drive shafts?

The answer is no to both questions. I merely re-located the brake lines, and still use the stock driveshafts.
