I've got a 95 5.8L A4OD, basicly stock except for a K&N fipk. I want to modify the exhaust, but don't have the bucks for a complete job yet. I was thinking on getting a pair of shorty headers to start with, looking at Flowtech brand ( inexpensive) I can later put on the rest of the pipes & flowmaster when I get richer. Is Flowtech a decent header?, or is there any other suggestions? Any input would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

well timber, actually any headers is better than no headers. and i believe shortys are the only type we can get for 92 or newer. i have a pair of eddlebrock headers on my gmc and they have never gave me any problems

Thanks Gump,

I was told that Flowtech is made by Gibson which is a very good quality product, just real expensive so they must be pretty good. and the fact that they will bolt up to stock exhaust so I can use it 'till I get the cash for the rest of the project is a plus!.

yeah like i said any headers are better than none, just check the ****** that bolts to the engine block make sure that it is good and thick if it is under 1/4 inch it can warp easily and start to leak.

I have flowtech long tubes on my 92 for about a year now, no problems with em...you may want to have them powdercoated or paint them with an engine paint. (if you go with long tubes you have to drop the front driveshaft to slide it into the engine compartment, other than that you shouldnt have any probs)

Thanks! I'm getting shortys because they will bolt up to stock exhaust, so I can run it untill I can get the rest of the exhaust. any feelings on using high flow cat's ? I'm in a non-testing county, but would still like to be legal. Also is the Flowmaster 40 the best? I want to go in at least 2-1/2" in & 2- 2" out This is my DD so I have to be somewhat presentable. :-"
