I have a 1970 Bronco with a 2.5" lift and will be running 33" tires. Wondering what you all think is a good set up for a basically stock ride for shocks? Leaning toward James Duff shocks, price is right and they seem to have a good name in the business.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Billie

Both Duff & WH have a good name, but what are you going to be doing with the vehicle? Most of the JD &WH shocks are equal to about a Rancho 5000 or a ProComp 3000. They aren't going to give you a smooth ride like say a Rancho 9000 or a ProComp MX6. Shocks are a definite, "you get what you pay for". So, if you are just going to be using it for a weekend warrior on forest service roads or sunny day around town, then sure, either of those shocks are great. If you are going to be using it as a daily driver or as a trail rig, spend the money and get a better shock.

Its a daily driver...what do you think is a good set up for the shocks. I just want to be sure that they are specific for an EB.

Thanks!

From personal experience, and you being on Colorado roads like I am, I would go with either a Rancho 9000 or ProComp's MX6, both are an adjustable shock. Or even a set of Bilstein 5100 series. All of three shocks are going to run you around $100 each, but they are definately worth the money. I ran a Rancho lift with Rancho 5000 shocks for years and about 2 years ago, I bit the bullet and got myself a set of RS9000s. I absolutely love them now. The ride is much smoother, I can take a washboard road at 30 mph and not even feel it. The problem I ran into with the shocks I went with is that the for the rear, they didn't end up fitting correct (the eyelets were too small on top and too wide on the bottom) and I had to cut mounts off and build my own. BUT, you can call any 4x4 shop that deals with suspension lifts and they can get you the correct shock for a Bronco application. I definately would not go with the RS5000 or lower or an equal ProComp shock. Yeah, they are pricey, but if you drive the beast every day, you will kick yourself for not doing it right the first time.

most likely a combo of both spring & shock. What type of springs are you running and how old are they?

Took your advise and went with the Rancho 9000XL's should be a sweet set up for sure and adjustable! ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
