Having finished the floor shifter conversion in my '74, I am now trying to coax the pivot pin out of the stock shift lever and get it out of the way. I've taken a punch to the bottom side of the pin (the top side appears to have a head on it) with steadily increasing aggressiveness. Should this thing come out relatively easily? Mine sure insn't.. I'm thinking of just drilling the thing out. Any suggestions???

Drilling would work.

Whoever removed mine, used a dremmel cut-off wheel., cut two slots up to both pins., then pulled it straight out...the pin sliding thru the slots.

I found a giant black silicon vacuum port cover/plug to slip over the remaining stub.

Man! Fought me all the way! I had to completely drill out the entire length of the pin. It never budged until the last tiny flake of steel was removed.
