setting timming

is anyone familar with were the timming mark is surpposed to be on a stock 5.8 1990 bronco. im use to the ones with alot of little teeth this one is made like < so is the mark surrpose to be lined up with the close end or is it to be lined up at the top of the bracket were < is located? this is the why the symbol look < on the timming mark.

mine says its surpposed to be set at 10 degrees the picture your showing the marks are on the crankshaft i need to know how to line it up with those marks the yellow in the picture is the the very top or the middle of bracket to line up with the numbers on thr crankshaft?

yeah..Sandy is showing you where the POINTER shows 13 degrees as reference to what part of the pointer indicates the timing degrees of the engine.

...in so many words...the RIGHT SIDE (longer edge) of da POINTER is the where to LINE up for 10 degrees.

and Ryan;s pic shows the POINTER in YELLOW...read te DEGREES on RIGHT (LONG SIDE) of Pointer.

13* isn't that bad, some people around here may suggest setting your timing to 13 for better performance. I tried it once and had a major problem but that was because my fuel pressure regulator was on it's way out and I didn't know it. I may go back and try it again now that the Beast is running better again.
